India Likely To Offer Brahmos missile To UAE On Crown Prince's Visit

India is likely to offer Brahmos missile and other military weapons to UAE during the ongoing visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that India may offer the deadly Brahmos missiles, which it jointly developed with Russia, to UAE during the visit of Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

However, India could sell Brahmos missile only later as it does not hold Intellectual property rights (IPR) unlike other weapons that it plans to offer currently, Khaleej Times reported Tuesday.

“There have been talks on the Brahmos missiles, but India will immediately offer only the equipment for which it holds IPR rights,” said ministry secretary Amar Sinha.

India is interested in joint production of aircraft, arms and armored vehicles with UAE. The two countries are likely to sign a few agreements on defense and maritime transport during Sheikh Nahyan’s visit.

Further, many bottlenecks in the way of $75 billion investment from UAE to develop India’s infrastructure have been removed, an Indian official said. India has also considered raising the issue of terror attacks in the country being orchestrated by Pakistan.

“Cooperation between India and UAE in intelligence sharing and counter terrorism is exceptional” India’s Ambassador to UAE Navdeep Suri told CNN-News18. Five UAE diplomats who were killed recently in terror attack of Kandahar is also like to figure in talks.

Recently UAE government has seized properties of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on the request of Indian authorities.
