Russia has plan to equip its Aerospace Forces with advanced MiG-35 multirole fighters by 2018.
"We are starting a big testing program, and I plan that a year from now this aircraft will enter into direct service with the Russian Aerospace Forces," MiG Director General Ilya Tarasenko said.
The MiG-35 is a further development of the MiG-29M/M2 and MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets, featuring improved combat capability and flight performance characteristics, Sputnik News reported today.
“The serial production of the MiG-35s would begin in 2019 following flight tests.” United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) President Boris Slyusar said.
The plane’s power unit is a modernized engine RD-33 of the MK modification that features high resistance.
“The onboard radar of Russia’s most advanced Mikoyan MiG-35 fighter jet is capable of tracking up to 30 targets at a time,” General Designer of the United Aircraft-Building Corporation Sergei Korotkov said on Friday.
"The onboard radar allows detecting and tracking from 10 to 30 targets at a time at a distance of 160 kilometers," the general designer said during the international presentation of the MiG-35 fighter aircraft.
