Lockheed Martin has received a potential $112 million contract modification from the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to continue to provide field support services for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD).
The modification increases the contract’s total value from $449 million to $561.2 million, the Defense Department said Thursday.
Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business will continue to provide MDA logistics performance and information assistance, forward stationing support, product assurance, post-deployment software services, missile support, safety, engineering and security services.
Work will occur in Alabama, California and Texas and the ordering period under the contract modification will run through March 31, 2019.
MDA will obligate operations, maintenance and procurement funds for fiscal years 2017 through 2019 upon award of future task orders.
THAAD is a component of the Ballistic Missile Defense System and works to intercept and target ballistic missile threats within and outside the atmosphere.
