BAE Systems Develops 'Movement Intelligence' To Identify, Track Security Threats

BAE Systems has integrated capabilities known as Movement Intelligence (MOVINT) into its Geospatial eXploitation Products (GXP) line of software, helping analysts to more easily identify intelligence threats using motion sensors.

These new capabilities, which include complex multi-tracking analytics, interpret movement and activity from video, radar, and other types of motion sensors, enabling analysts to efficiently track people, vehicles, and other objects of interest, the company announced Monday.

The detection and tracking of key targets and activities often requires analysts to painstakingly monitor, review, and interpret large volumes of data and imagery from multiple sensors, compromising the effectiveness of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations.

Eliminating the need for manual analysis, GXP’s enhanced tracking analytics allow users to focus instead on exploring and interpreting threat activity and networks while creating actionable intelligence reporting.

“Our advanced Movement Intelligence capabilities allow users to monitor multiple feeds across many regions,” said Dana Poirier, general manager of the Geospatial eXploitation Products group at BAE Systems.

“Advanced MOVINT and tracking analytics enable our customers to identify critical targets, activities, and emerging situations much more quickly and effectively than previous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions.” Poirier added.

The simultaneous tracking and indexing of all entities in a region enables analysts to rapidly discover key trends, anomalies, and emerging threats often concealed in traditional analysis. In addition, target object classification, real-time event detection, and automated alerts to activity in designated areas provide further detail and insight.

Expanding upon GXP’s current suite of geospatial solutions, the company’s new MOVINT capabilities deliver situational awareness, intelligence, and insight for critical activities such as border security, counter-terrorism, drug interdiction, and the protection of high value infrastructure.
