The US Special Operations Command has awarded multiple contracts worth $950 million to the US firms for Mid-Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) services.
Boeing Co's Insitu Inc and Textron Inc's AAI Corp are each being awarded $475 million contracts for their Mid-Endurance Unmanned Aircraft Systems (MEUAS). The contract includes a 54-month period of performance, with four 12-month ordering periods followed by one six-month ordering period, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.
The estimated completion date is not to exceed June 2022.
AAI manufactures the RQ-7B Shadow tactical UAV as well as the Aerosonde small UAV. Whereas, Boeing subsidiary manufactures the RQ-21 Integrator and the ScanEagle, which is already in use with SOCOM, along with other US and foreign services.
