First batch of the BAE System’s Typhoon fighters were received by the Air Force of Oman (RAFO) Wednesday.

They were delivered under the auspices of Major General Matar bin Ali Al Obaidani Commander of RAFO, at the Adam Air Base.

“It is the first batch of Typhoon fighters that will be received according to the planned stages of the project.” Times of Oman reported. The aircraft were the first two twin-seaters for the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO).

The Typhoon fighter is one of the modern multi-task combat aircraft because it has many advanced systems that provide it with high capabilities. The aircraft is equipped with advanced systems that qualify it to deal with different circumstances.

A number of RAFO senior officers and non-commissioned officers attended the ceremony of arrival of the first batch of (Typhoon) fighters.

The Sultanate of Oman announced its decision to purchase 12 Typhoon and eight Hawk aircraft in December 2012.
