L3 Technologies (L3 KEO) is being awarded $7 million contract for MK 20 Electro-Optical Sensor System (EOSS) and MK 46 Optical Sight System retrofit, refurbishment, and upgrade services and depot spares.
This order includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $17,224,144, a US DoD release said.
This order combines purchases for the US Navy and Australia under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.
L3 KEO's MK46 system includes a daylight TV camera, a 3-5 micron thermal imager, an eye-safe laser rangefinder and stabilization accuracy to 30 microradians, according to an L3 KEO information sheet.
Building on the MK46 Optical Sight System, the MK20 MOD 0 EOSS was designed to incorporate the latest technologies into a proven baseline. Among the features that were incorporated are full digital stabilization fiber-optic gyros, an eyesafe laser rangefinder LRU that incorporates a long life diode-pumped laser with an increased rep rate and increased ranging performance, improved BIT and maintainability features, as well as excellent sensor to sensor boresight alignment.
