UAE to Modernize Air Tractor Ground Attack Aircraft
The UAE Armed Forces has announced a contract to modernize and upgrade its air tractor light attack aircraft in a contract worth AED 41.32 million (USD 11 million).
The air tractor light attack aircraft are used in counter-terrorism operations as a low cost alerternative to fight jets.
The UAE had purchased 24 of the planes and some of them have been deployed in the operations in Yemen.
Originating as crop chemical sprayers in the US, the Air Tractor AT-802 has found success around the world as light attack aircraft equipped with cannons, bombs and missiles.
