Lockheed Martin has won $102 million modification contract to exercise options for the procurement of technical insertion (TI)-16 Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-the-Shelf Insertion (A-RCI) systems.
The contract also includes pre-cable kits, and A-RCI sonar engineering services. Work is expected to be completed by December 2018, US department of defense said in a statement Thursday.
The A-RCI Sonar is an improvement over the legacy sonar systems. A-RCI uses a progression of technology insertions (TI) to enhance sonar signal processing without altering existing towed array, hull array, and sphere array sonar equipment aboard fast-attack, ballistic missile, and cruise-missile submarines.
