Raytheon Wins $95M Engineering Support Contract For 155mm Excalibur Program

The US Army has awarded Raytheon with a contract worth $95 million to provide engineering services in support of the 155mm Excalibur program, the US Defense Department announced Monday.

“Raytheon Missiles Systems, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $95,000,000 hybrid (cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price) contract for engineering services to support the 155mm Excalibur program. One bid was solicited with one bid received,” the statement says.

Excalibur is a GPS-guided munition capable of being used in close support situations within 75–150 meters of friendly troops or in situations where targets might be prohibitively close to civilians to attack with unguided artillery fire.

Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 25, 2023, the statement added.

According to Raytheon, the Excalibur projectile’s precision, coupled with its ability to be integrated on multiple gun systems, and enables both the U.S. and its coalition partners to provide overmatch capabilities against land targets in a variety of combat environments. This includes stationary land targets.
