Raytheon Wins $20 Million US Navy Next Generation Jammer Spiral Upgrades Contract

Raytheon has won $20 million US Navy contract for the Air and Missile Defense Radar and Next Generation Jammer spiral upgrades and scalable x-band radar development.   

Work is expected to be completed June 8, 2020, US department of defense said in a statement Wednesday.

The US Navy and Australia are working jointly on the new Raytheon AN/ALQ-249 Next Generation Jammer that is currently being developed for the Boeing EA-18G Growler airborne electronic attack aircraft. Growler is a derivative of the Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet strike fighter.

The Gallium Nitride based active phased arrays is more capable than existing 40-year-old ALQ-99 pods.
