General Atomics has won $36 million modification contract for MQ-9 Reaper production of spare engines and engine shipping containers.
This contract provides for the production of MQ-9 spare engines and engine shipping containers in the fiscal 2016 production configuration. Work is expected to be complete by May 31, 2020, the US department of defense said in a statement Thursday.
Predator B, designated as MQ-9 Reaper, is powered by the flight-certified and proven Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprop engine, integrated with Digital Electronic Engine Control (DEEC), which significantly improves engine performance and fuel efficiency, particularly at low altitudes.
The aircraft is modular and is configured with a variety of payloads to meet mission requirements. Predator B is capable of carrying multiple mission payloads to include: Electro-optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Lynx Multi-mode Radar, multi-mode maritime surveillance radar, Electronic Support Measures (ESM), laser designators, and various weapons packages.
