General Dynamics has been awarded $149 million modification contract for the procurement of various quantities of rockets, warheads, motors and/or, associated components to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Kenya, Jordan, Nigeria and Qatar.
The contract includes procurement of M151, M274, M257, M278, M156, M264, M278 warheads and WTU-1/B rockets. Work is expected to be completed by Feb. 28, 2021, the US department of defense said in a statement Thursday.
The warheads M151-high explosive, M274-practice smoke, M257, 278-parachute illumination, M156-white phosphorous, M264-red phosphorous smoke and WTU-1/B-inert practice rounds are for the Hydra 70 rocket.
M151 "10-Pounder," is the most common warhead for the Hydra 70 rocket which has a blast radius of 10 meters and lethal fragmentation radius of around 50 meters.
