Boeing Wins $1.5B Super Hornets Contract For Kuwait Air Force

Boeing has won a foreign military sales contract worth over $1.5 billion to supply 28 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet tactical fighters to the Kuwait Air Force, the Department of defense announced Wednesday.

“The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is awarded a $1,504,995,240 fixed-price-incentive-firm contract that provides for the production and delivery of 22 F/A-18E and six F/A-18F Super Hornets in support of the government of Kuwait,” the release states.

The 22 single-seat ‘E’ and six two-seat ‘F’ variants are set to replace Kuwait’s 27 current crop of F-18C Hornet fighters.

Work will be performed in El Segundo, California; Hazelwood, Missouri ; Fort Worth, Texas; Santa Clarita, California; Bloomington, Minnesota; Greenlawn, New York; Endicott, New York; Santa Ana, California; Clearwater, Florida; Clifton, New Jersey; Mesa, Arizona; Torrance, California; Ontario, Canada; Vandalia, Ohio; Kalamazoo, Michigan; Fort Walton Beach, Florida; East Aurora, New York; and various locations outside the continental U.S. (2.1 percent), and is expected to be completed in January 2021, the statement says. 

Foreign military sales funds in the amount of $1,504,995,240 will be obligated at time of award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, the release added.
