Russia’s Technologiya R&D Enterprise, part of state hi-tech corporation Rostec, has developed a special composite material for aircraft cockpit glass that increases radar wave absorption twofold, TASS reports.
"The pilot’s cockpit glazing is a major unmasking factor for the aircraft due to the low level of radar wave absorption. The innovative coating considerably reduces a combat plane’s signature for enemy radars," the Rostec press office reported on Thursday.
Industrial Director of the Rostec Conventional Armaments, Munitions and Special Chemistry cluster Sergei Abramov was quoted by the corporation’s press office as saying that "this product actually has no weak points: its use helps halve the weight of the pilot’s cockpit glazing and increase impact resistance. Besides, radar wave absorption increases from 40% to 80%".
