The Indonesian Army received its final batch of M109A4 BE self-propelled howitzers, along with 4 command posts and one mobile crane unit on Monday, the local media reported today.
Delivery of the first batch of M109A4 BE self-propelled howitzers took place last year. These 155mm self-propelled howitzers are part of a total of 38 are second-hand M109s that Indonesia is received from Belgium.
The M109A4 is an improved version of howitzers with Nuclear,Biological and Chemical protection, including air purifiers, heaters, and Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) gear and adds an additional hydraulic filter, for a total of two.
The M109A4-BE is manufactured by Belgium and is part of the self-propelled family of howitzers.
