The Pentagon has awarded a $44 million Foreign Military Sales worth contract to Lockheed Martin to supply Modernized Day Sensor Assembly (M-DSA) kits to the United Arab Emirates, according to the DOD statement made on Wednesday.

The awarded contract also includes the supply of the modernized laser range finder designators, and flight code processors to UAE, the statement said.

Work will be performed in Orlando, Florida, with an estimated completion date of April 30, 2022.

Modernized Day Sensor Assembly (M-DSA) is the next step in the modernization of the Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS) system, also known as Arrowhead. The M-DSA incorporates updated Laser Rangefinder Designator, TV Sensor, and Laser Spot Tracker components, elements of which were designed in the 1970s.

According to Lockheed Martin, the objective is to modernize the entire DSA system to enhance performance and address obsolescence, as well as to increase the M-TADS/PNVS ability to fully accommodate weapons now in production.
