India’s Upgraded MiG-29 Fighter to Have Increased Flying Time

The Indian MiG-29 aircraft are being upgraded to match capabilities of a 4.5 generation of fighter jet and will be capable of increased duration of sorties.

India’s only fighter Aircraft Repair Depot, Air Force station Ozar in Nashik is presently working on the capacity upgradation of the frontline MiG-29 fighters. “Once the upgrade is complete, the flying duration of the aircraft will be increased from the present flying time of 45 minutes to 50 minutes, Air Commodore Samir Borade, commanding officer of the IAF Station Ozar was quoted as saying by Times of India Saturday.

The upgraded MiG-29 will be fully equipped for delivering weapons, including missiles. Upgradation is in final stage, Borade said.

The MiG-29 are being upgraded with help from the Russian OEM.
