Australian Navy Commissions Second Hobart-class Missile Destroyer
Australian Navy HMAS Brisbane

The Royal Australian Navy commissioned a new guided missile destroyer into its fleet on Saturday, christened HMAS Brisbane (III).

The second of three Hobart class guided missile destroyers is slated for a test and evaluation period where it will be integrated into the fleet. During this period, the Navy personnel will train to operate the warship.

The Brisbane is expected to provide air defence for accompany naval crafts, ground forces and allied coastal installations, all the while protecting itself from air threats and missiles.
