General Atomics Wins $40M to Provide Services on Gray Eagle UAS

General Atomics has won a $40 million modification contract for services on the Gray Eagle Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).

The Gray Eagle is a Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) UAS having an endurance of 25 hours, and speed up to167 KTAS (Knots True Air Speed). It can operate up to 29,000 feet, and carries 1,075 lb (488 kg) of internal and external payload. The aircraft can carry multiple payloads aloft, including Electro-optical/Infrared (EO/IR) with laser designation, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), communications relay, and four Hellfire missiles.

Work will be performed in Poway, California, with an estimated completion date of June 15, 2019, United States Department of Defense said in a statement Thursday.
