Nigeria is all set to accept the delivery of five attack helicopters from Italy and a gunship from Russia in March.
“Nigerian Air Force is set to take the delivery of one Mi-35 gunship from Russia and five AW109 utility/attack helicopters from Italy, which will be used to fight insecurity in the country,” DefenseWeb quoted Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar as saying during a visit to Gembu, Taraba State Tuesday.
“The objective for Gembu is to have a fully functional NAF Base, complete with helicopter landing pads (helipads) and possibly an airstrip. This would allow for the deployment of some of the new NAF combat helicopters procured by the Federal Government to Gembu when they arrive,” he added.
