BrahMos NG hypersonic cruise missile, the latest development of BrahMos Aerospace, can be launched from submarines and fighter jets such as Su-30MKI, Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and MiG-29s.

The BrahMos NG missile can be submarine launched from Torpedo tubes. Five BrahMos NG missiles can be integrated on Su-30MKI (two missiles under each wing and one under the fuselage), two missiles each on MiG-29 and LCA fighters, Praveen Pathak, Chief General Manager, Market Promotion and Export, and Corporate IT Head for BrahMos Aerospace told Defenseworld on the second day of Aero India 2019 Airshow in Bangalore Thursday.

“The newer version, BrahMos NG has a digital fuel injection system that increase the thrust unlike the previous versions that have mechanical fuel injection system. BrahMoS NG has been able to achieve increased speeds from 2.8 Mach to 3.5 Mach after this switch,” Pathak said.

Besides, the fuel injection system, there are several other features that have been digitized in the NG version, he added.

The land version of the new version of missile will be hosted on 8x8 launch vehicles unlike the older version which used 12x12 launch vehicles, he said.

BrahMos-NG will have same 290 km range and mach 3.5 speed but it will weigh around 1.5 tons, 5 meters in length and 50 cm in diameter, making BrahMos-NG 50 percent lighter and three meters shorter than its predecessor.
