Ukroboronprom Suspends Two Directors on Graft Charges

Ukroboronprom has suspended two of its directors based on journalistic investigation reports of corruption in Ukrainian defense industry.

Director of the State Enterprise "Kharkiv Design Bureau for Machine-Building , Alexei Babich and Director of State Enterprise "Izyum Instrument-Making Plant" Sergei Filonenko are removed from their positions, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

The decision was taken by the Director General of Ukroboronprom,  Pavel Bukin in connection with the significant public resonance caused by information published in the media and in order to provide conditions for conducting the relevant investigation by law enforcement agencies, the statement read.

We emphasize that Ukroboronprom within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings will provide investigators with all necessary information. The management of the Concern is concerned that all proceedings should be investigated as soon as possible, and officials involved in abuses are punished in accordance with the Law.

On 25 February the team BIHUS.info published journalistic investigation, according to which the son of the Deputy national security Council Secretary Oleg Gladkovsky allegedly leading a group of people, which profited from the sale of smuggled Russian parts with a large margin for the Ukrainian defense industry, Focus reported.
