Qatar has received the first of 24 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters.

Qatar Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah attended the ceremony of the first delivery of AH-64E Guardian helicopters to Qatar Emiri Air Force Friday.

Qatar had signed a contract to buy 24 Apache armed helicopters for $667 million in 2016. Deliveries are expected to be completed by May 2020.

The AH-64Es, also known as Apaches, are helicopters that typically carry AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. They have four blades and are rotary-winged.
