The joint venture (JV) between Embraer and Boeing will not involve the A-29 Super Tucano turboprop light attack aircraft, Embraer said in a statement Saturday.

In Brazil during the last week of February, Embraer's shareholders approved the proposal to establish a JV made up of the commercial aircraft and services operations of Embraer. The company’s shareholders had also agreed to a JV to promote and develop new markets for the multi-mission medium airlift KC-390.

According to a report by Airway1, Embraer’s financial vice president Nelson Salgado, said that the Super Tucano jet can be part of the company’s partnership with Boeing in defense.

“The defense partnership is not limited to the KC-390. It is the initial focus of the partnership. There is no restriction on the Super Tucano not being treated by Boeing (in the partnership),” Salgado was quoted as saying by Airway1.

The company however denied the possibility of the jet being a part of the JV with Boeing.

“Embraer clarifies that the joint venture with Boeing in the defense area will not involve the A-29 Super Tucano,” the company stated Saturday.
