Suspected UAE Spy Kills Himself in Turkish Prison

A suspected UAE spy believed to have information on the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, has killed himself in a Turkish Prison on Sunday.

According to a written statement from Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Monday, prison guards discovered Zaki Y. M. Hasan's lifeless body hanging from a bathroom door in his cell on Sunday morning.

Hasan was one of the two intelligence operatives arrested by Turkey in mid-April. Both confessed to spying on Arab nationals on behalf of the UAE, in Istanbul.

One of the detained was suspected of having connections to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was killed more than six months ago.

The aim of the spy ring was to create an anti-Turkey structure. The second suspect identified as S.S. came under the radar of Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) for his meetings and was taken under physical and technical surveillance, according to government officials. The MIT also detected that he was gathering information from his contacts in exchange for money, the report stated further.
