Israel Completes Delivery of First Batch of Spice-2000 Bombs to India

Israel has completed the delivery of first batch of new version of Spice-2000 bunker buster bombs to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

“Israel has started the delivery of the Spice-2000 bombs to India and the first batch of these bombs was received recently,” top IAF sources told ANI.

New Delhi signed a $43.2 million (INR 300 Crore) contract with Israel for 100 Spice bombs this June under the emergency procurement route. The bombs will be delivered along with Mark 84 warheads, and other bombs which can destroy buildings completely.

The Spice-2000 bombs were used during the February 26 air strikes in Pakistan’s Balakot.

The Israeli bombs are developed by Rafael. They are a derivative of Popeye air-to-surface missile and are fed with coordinates and satellite pictures of the target to home in and destroy it. The EO/GPS-guided guidance kit can transform unguided bombs into precision-guided bombs.
