US Army Procures Sig Sauer .300 Win Mag Ammo

The United States Army has awarded Sig Sauer a contract valued $10 million for the supply of .300 Winchester Magnum Ammunition.

“Sig Sauer was awarded a $10,000,000 firm-fixed-price contract for procurement of .300 Winchester Magnum Ammunition,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement Tuesday.

“This hunting round features an all-copper bullet that delivers deep penetration and consistent 1.8x diameter expansion. The 165-grain, .300 Win Mag bullet has a muzzle velocity of 3,110 feet per second with muzzle energy of 3,543 foot pounds of energy,” the company claims.

SIG HT cartridges are made with premium nickel-plated shell cases, as well as flash-reduced propellant to minimize visible signature while shooting in low-light situations, the release states. Premium-quality primers are also used to minimize variations in velocity.

The SIG HT ammunition is produced on loading equipment with electromechanical monitoring for charge weight consistency and geometric conformity, according to the company.
