Russia, Turkey Set-up New Military Bases in Northern Syria

Russia and Turkey have both established new military bases in northern Syria.

The Russian Armed Forces have evidently set up the base in the border city of Amuda in the Al Hasakah Governorate, reports Al-Masdar News. Moscow is said to have reached an agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on the same.

The new establishment is the third by the Russian military. As the new facility was being built, heavy vehicles started to arrive. The base will reportedly serve as an observation point for the Turkish border.

In November, the media had reported that Moscow was planning to lease a new military airbase in Qamishli city, north-eastern Syria, adjoining Turkish city of Nusaybin.

The Turkish army has established two new military facilities near the city of Ras al-Ayn in north-eastern Syria, and the towns of Al Toulan and Al Kanhir in the Al Hasakah Governorate, writes Al Ekhbariya.
