Russia's Only Aircraft Carrier Catches Fire During Engine Repairs

A fire broke out onboard Russia's Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier while the vessel's engine was undergoing repairs at a dock in Murmansk on Thursday, injuring three people.

According to TASS, the raging inferno was caused due to violation of safety rules.

"Three people have been injured. All of them are receiving medical assistance," s source in the Emergencies Ministry was quoted as saying by TASS.

A total of eight people have reportedly been rescued and one person remains missing.

The fire that engulfed an area close to 120 square meters, occurred during repair works in the first power unit. Diesel fuel is currently burning and the firefighting effort is carried out with the use of foam, the report said.
