EmbraerX, a subsidiary of Embraer has signed an agreement with Elroy Air to develop a new unmanned aircraft for transportation of cargo weighing between 250-500lbs over distances up to 300 miles.
The agreement was signed at the ongoing CES 2020 event in Las Vegas, United States.
This collaboration is part of EmbraerX’s multi-project approach to further develop the air mobility ecosystem and create the conditions for people and goods to move from A to B in a seamless and affordable way, Embraer said in a statement Wednesday.
Elroy Air has previously developed a Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) cargo delivery aircraft, the Chaparral. It can operate without airports or charging stations, and is optimized for freight with automated cargo loading and unloading.
