Amidst Russia sending several battleships to the Eastern Mediterranean in the past couple of weeks, concerns have arisen over a new offensive in Syria.
The Russian navy deployed three warships in quick succession: a large anti-submarine warfare destroyer “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and Northern fleet’s missile cruiser “Marshal Ustinov” on January 13, followed by Moscow’s new “Ivan Antonov” Aleksandrit-class minesweeper three days later.
The development comes after the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Russian allies launched a new operation in Idlib and Aleppo.
