Saab Begins Production of USAF T-7A’s Aft Fuselage

Saab has begun manufacturing seven aft fuselage section for T-7A advanced trainers ordered by the United States Air Force (USAF).

“Saab started assembly production on January 10, 2020 of its (aft fuselage) section of the T-7A aircraft, the advanced trainer developed and produced together with Boeing for the USAF,” the company said in a statement.

The seven aft units are being produced in Linköping, Sweden for final assembly at Boeing’s U.S. facility in St. Louis, Missouri.

Boeing is the designated prime contractor for the T-7A advanced pilot training system acquisition by the USAF. Saab and Boeing developed the aircraft with Saab as a risk-sharing partner. Saab received the EMD order from Boeing, on September 18, 2018.
