BAE to Provide Over 1,000 F-35 Radio Jammers

BAE Systems has been awarded $77.5 million to supply 1,464 radio frequency countermeasures for F-35 fighters of the United States military and its allies.

“BAE Systems Information and Electronics Systems is awarded a $77.47 million modification contract to procure 1,464 radio frequency countermeasures as well as the maintenance and repair of multi-function test stations in support of the F-35 aircraft for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers,” said a US Department of Defense release Wednesday.

BAE Systems’ AN/ASQ-239 electronic warfare suite for the F-35 provides fully integrated radar warning, targeting support, and self-protection, to detect and defeat surface and airborne threats. It provides the aircraft with radio-frequency and infrared countermeasures, and rapid response capabilities.
