Rheinmetall Wins $80M to Supply Artillery Propelling Charges to International Customer

Rheinmetall has won a contract worth over $80 million (€70 million) to supply artillery propelling charges to an unnamed international customer by 2021.

Booked at the end of March by Rheinmetall Denel Munition (Pty) Ltd., the order encompasses several hundred thousand Tactical Modular Charges, the company said in a statement Tuesday.

The Tactical Modular Charges are designed to propel 155mm artillery shells. It includes reduced barrel wear (RDM’s Barrel Wear Reducer/BWR) for longer barrel life; and lower muzzle flash (RDM’s Muzzle Flash Reducer/MFR) to make the artillery system harder for the enemy to detect.
