Russia launched two Project 03160 Raptor patrol boats at St.Petersburg Shipyard on Wednesday, scheduled to enter naval service this June.

“The newly-launched Raptor boats built at the Pella plant will be commissioned to the Russian Navy in June 2020. Currently, boat crews are being trained. After completion of the necessary tests, both boats will be part of the Baltic Fleet,” Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov said.

They are intended for use in patrol and interception missions, search and rescue, as well as defend ships and naval bases. The boats have Br4-class armor panels for bullet resistance, and can attain speeds of up to 50 knots. They measure 16.9m in length and 4.1m in width, the Russian defense ministry said in a statement on April 15.

The boats come armed with Uprava-Kord universal combat remotely controlled module with 14.5 mm machine gun and gyro-stabilized optoelectronic module; and two 6P41 Pecheneg machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber on swivel mounts.
