An Mi-8 helicopter suffered a technical failure and crashed at Anadyr town in Russia’s Chukotka region, killing all four people on board.
"Four people died. Preliminary version of the crash is technical malfunction," a source in the Chukotka Autonomous Region government was quoted as saying by TASS on Tuesday.
Another source in the Russian Ministry of Defense also suspected that the accident may have been a result of technical failure.
A special investigative group has been dispatched to the crash site to carry out a probe, where the aircraft’s black boxes have already been recovered.
On May 19, an Mi-8 crashed in Klin, northwest of Moscow, leaving three persons dead. “According to preliminary data, the crash might have been caused by a technical failure,” Russian MoD said in a statement.
