F-35 Jet’s Landing Gear Collapses After Landing at Hill AFB

The landing gear of an F-35 jet collapsed after landing at Hill Air Force Base in Utah on Monday.

The fighter, assigned to the 388th Fighter Wing had just completed a routine training flight. The pilot was able to get out of the aircraft and is currently being evaluated, according to reports.

The incident is being investigated by concerned authorities.

Hill AFB has closed its runway and suspended flights.

In August 2018, another F-35 suffered a gear malfunction after landing. The jet ended up with its nose on the tarmac at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

On 20 May, an F-35A combat jet that was flying out of Eglin AFB crashed. Pilot of the aircraft ejected safely. This incident was the third crash of an F-35 that resulted in a total write-off of the airframe.
