General Dynamics Wins USS Bataan Modernization Contract
USS Oak Hill, USNS Robert E. Peary and USS Bataan

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics a contract worth $107 million for USS Bataan maintenance, modernization and repair.

General Dynamics NASSCO – Norfolk will provide the facilities and human resources capable of completing, coordinating and integrating multiple areas of ship maintenance, repair and modernization for USS Bataan (LHD 5).

Work is expected to be completed by December 2021.

USS Bataan is a 257m-long Wasp-class amphibious assault ship having a displacement of 40,500 tons. It has a maximum speed of 22 knots, and range of 17,600km at 18 knots. The warship was deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom after 9/11 attacks, and during Iraq War.
