Philippine Military Intercept Speed Boat With Jolo Bombing Suspects, 7 Killed

The Philippine military intercepted a speed boat carrying two Jolo bombing suspects and 5 others today in the Sulu Sea.

“At 2:15AM today, troops of JTF - Sulu intercepted and killed 7 Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) kidnappers aboard a twin engine speed boat at the open waters of Sulu Sea,” Armed Forces of the Philippines said in a statement.

The military operation involved an Air Force AW-109 gunship and Navy Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC).

Among the dead are brothers of bomb expert Mundi Sawadjaan, Madsmar Sawadjaan and Mannul Sawadjaan.  The former is tagged as the mastermind of August 2019’s twin suicide bombings in Sulu Province’s capital Jolo, in which 14 people were killed and another 75 were injured.
