Pakistan's 'Aman' Exercise has U.S., Russian, Chinese, NATO Navies Participating

The Pakistan Navy has invited over 40 countries including U.S., Russia, China and NATO members to participate in the 7th edition of AMAN (Peace) exercises being held every two years since 2007.

This marks the first time in a decade that Russia will participate in a joint military exercise with NATO members. As many as 46 countries and 115 observers participated in Aman-19 naval exercises and around 11 navies, including those of China, U.S., U.K., Australia, Turkey, Italy and Malaysia participated with their warships.

AMAN-21 is scheduled in two phases: the harbor phase and the sea phase. The harbor phase will comprise of the International Maritime Conference, seminars, table talks, cross ships visits, calls on and the International Band Display and Maritime Counter Terrorism Demonstration, while the sea phase includes practical execution of operational plans and activities finalized during the harbor phase, Global Times reported citing Pakistan Navy.

The exercise has been planned with focused objectives, which include enhancing interoperability with regional and extra-regional navies thereby acting as a bridge between the regions, and the display of united resolve against terrorism and crimes in the maritime domain.
