The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) gave its nod to Russian Helicopters for the installation of four additional passenger seats in the Mi-171A2 cabin.

The increase in the number of seats from 20 to 24 will give additional advantages to operators when performing passenger transportation, a Rostec release on Tuesday said.

"In accordance with the requirements of aviation regulations, the passenger compartment is equipped with energy-absorbing seats with four-point seat belts, which ensures a high level of safety when transporting passengers," said Leonid Belykh, Managing Director of the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.

The Mi-171A2 helicopter has the ability to quickly convert. The cargo compartment can be converted into a cargo, search and rescue or passenger version in a short time. The transport capabilities of the helicopter allow transporting up to 4 tons of cargo inside the cargo compartment or up to 5 tons on an external sling.

To increase the comfort and safety of the flight, the Mi-171A2 helicopter is also equipped with oxygen equipment, an air conditioning and heating system, a cloakroom and a luggage compartment. For an emergency exit from the helicopter, passengers can use eight evacuation points.

The aircraft is equipped with new engines with digital control system, an efficient carrier system with composite blades and an improved airfoil. The Mi-171A2 helicopter is equipped with a KBO-17-1 digital avionics complex made according to the “glass cockpit” principle. It includes a flight and navigation complex and a system of general helicopter equipment with display data indication. The use of video cameras has improved visibility when working with an external suspension. Flight safety is ensured through the use of modern systems for preventing collisions with the ground, other aircraft and obstacles along the route of the helicopter.
