Raytheon Wins $3.12B for F-15 AESA Radars
U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle departs after receiving fuel from a KC-135 Stratotanker over Southwest Asia, Dec. 22, 2020.

The U.S. Air Force announced a $3.12 billion contract to Raytheon for the production of F-15 Radar Eagle Vision.

This contract provides for the production, modernization and support of the F-15 APG-82 radar system to rapidly deliver and stay aligned with the F-15 weapon system program, a Pentagon release today said.

This contract currently does not have any delivery orders for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) but does allow for future FMS orders and is the result of a sole-source acquisition.

Work is expected to be completed June 8, 2036.

Raytheon’s APG-82(V)1 radar is an active electronically scanned array (AESA) that equips the Air Force’s current F-15E Strike Eagle fleet. The company delivered its first radar to Boeing for integration with the F-15E way back in 2010. For the new F-15EX jet, the only upgrades required are software changes to integrate the radar with the Eagle Passive/Active Warning and Survivability System (EPAWSS).

In addition to the APG-82(V)1 radar's extended range and improved multitarget tracking and precision-engagement capabilities, the APG-82 offers more than 20 times the system reliability of the legacy F-15E APG-70 radar.
