Russia to Host 12 International Defense Exhibitions in 2022-23

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has approved the holding of 12 international defense exhibitions during 2022-2023.

According to the document posted on the government’s legal information web portal on Friday, the 2023 list includes the MAKS International Aerospace Show in Zhukovsky, the International Maritime Defense Show in St. Petersburg, and the Integrated Security international show in Moscow.

TASS reported that the document stipulates holding five international defense shows in 2022 and seven in 2023.

The shows include the popular Army international military-technical forum, the exhibition of Russian leading defense producers in Kubinka outside Moscow, the international helicopter show in Krasnogorsk (the Moscow Region), and the Week of National Security in Kubinka, according to the document.

New will be the Gidroaviasalon international show and scientific conference on sea aviation in the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik in 2022.

In recent years, Russia prefers to showcase its defense products in domestic exhibitions to overcome sanctions which prevent it from participating in popular European events.

In addition, according to sources within the Russian industry, the cost of transporting equipment and models to events internationally (those  outside Europe and the U.S. where Russians companies participate as in Asia and the Middle East) is very high.

It works out cheaper to invite specific delegations from buyer-countries to Russian events than to take our equipment to these countries, the sources said.
