China Donates $20.3M Worth of Equipment to Manila
China donates RMB 130 million worth of equipment to the Philippines

China has donated RMB 130 million ($20.5 million) worth military aid to the Philippines, a country it is involved in a dispute over control over parts of the South China Sea.

The first batch of military equipment worth RMB 76 million ($12 million) arrived in Manila on 16 January 2022. The donation comprises various military equipment such rescue and relief equipment, drone systems, detectors, water purification vehicles, ambulances, firetrucks, X-ray machines, EOD robots, bomb disposal suits and transport vehicles; and engineering equipment such as backhoes, dumptrucks, forklifts, and earthmovers.

The equipment will be formally turned over to the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) next month, Director Arsenio R. Andolong, Spokesperson of DND said in a statement on January 25.

A second batch worth RMB 54 million ($8.5 million) will be delivered on a later date.
