In perhaps the single deadliest attack on Ukraine so far, Russian Forces today struck at the beseiged country's Yavorovsky military training ground killing some 180 "foreign mercenaries."
Ukrainian Defense ministry disputed the claim stating they some 35 persons, mostly Ukrainian military trainees and civilians perished in the attack that comprised of over 35 cruise missiles and precision bombs against the poorly defended training academy. The full count of dead and injured is still to be made.
Eyewitnesess saw mangled bodies and parts of human flesh strewn for several hundred meters from the ground with sobbing Ukraininan civilians struggling to help the victims, Ukrainian media reports said.
"On the morning of March 13, high-precision long-range weapons struck at the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the village of Starichi and at the Yavorivsky military training ground," Russian Ministry of Defense spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said.
"The training academy was being used as a base for training and combat coordination of foreign mercenaries before sending them to the areas of hostilities, as well as a storage base for weapons and military equipment coming from foreign countries, Konashenkov explained.
"As a result of the strike, up to 180 foreign mercenaries and a large consignment of foreign weapons were destroyed. The destruction of foreign mercenaries who arrived on the territory of Ukraine will continue," he added.

30 Cruise missiles fired

Russian planes fired “at least” 30 cruise missiles at the Yavoriv International Center for Peacekeeping & Security (YICPS), ruining buildings and infrastructure. A Ukrainian army spokesman said.

The YICPS is a Ukrainian army facility with many facilities financed by Nato states. A primary mission of the facility is training UAF troops to Nato standards. A team of Ukrainian and US, British, Canadian and Lithuanian service members normally constitute the training staff. The international trainers were evacuated before the war started.

Oleksii Reznikov, Ukraine’s Defense Minister, called the strike a “terrorist attack” and called on western nations to create a no-fly zone in Ukrainian air space, to prevent RF aircraft and missile strikes.
