Malaysian firm Advanced Defence Systems (ADS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nexter Systems to provide the Caesar self-propelled artillery system to Malaysian Armed forces.
The MoU was signed during the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2022 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur on March 29.
The two companies will be focusing on the development of the Caesar 155mm/52-calibre wheeled light self-propelled gun (SPG) on a 6x6 chassis. They intend to promote it as a solution for the Malaysian Armed Forces’ tender to procure a self-propelled artillery system.
The CAESAR 6X6 is a 155mm artillery gun mounted on a conventional truck chassis. Particularly light for its range, it is air transportable in a C130 tactical transport aircraft. Its tactical mobility is also ensured by its rapid battery commissioning and simplified resupply. The system has been successfully used in combat by the French army, notably in Iraq.
