A Russian precision missile strike destoryed Ukrainian S-300 air defense systems (ADS) in the Mykolaiv and Kharkiv on April 9.
"High-precision air-launched missiles in the area of the village of Starobogdanovka in the Mykolaiv region and at the Chuhuiv military airfield destroyed the launchers of Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems identified by reconnaissance," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on Sunday.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, a total of 234 Ukrainian air defense systems were destroyed during the ongoing "special operation", including S-300, Buk-M1, Osa AKM.
On Friday, Slovakia had agreed to part with a battery of S-300 PMU ADS in response to a request from Ukraine; In return, the U.S. placed a battery of PATRIOT missile system in that country.
Ukraine had some 100 batteries of S-300 ADS, in various versions such as S-300PT, S-300PS, S-300V. It is not known how many are still in a working condition admidst repeated Russian claims of their destruction.
