Russia's latest fighter jet, the fifth-generation 'Checkmate' will have its communications system showcased at the upcoming ARMY-2022 event near Moscow.
"Nizhny Novgorod NPP "Polet" (defense electronics enterprise) will demonstrate the latest communication equipment for aviation, including the latest complex of communication equipment for the fifth-generation checkmate light tactical fighter," a press release from Rostec, the holding company of several Russian defense and high-tech enterprises said.
Adter the official unveiling at MAKS 2021 event and subsequent display of a full-size mock-up at the Dubai Air show, nothing much has been said about the progress of the much-anticipated jet.
While the tentative date for the first flight was said to be 2023 at the time of project launch, no information has been revealed as to the progress of its prototypes or major system.
The 'Checkmate' fighter is planned to be a competitor to the U.S. F-35 and promises to be a step ahead in terms of stealth characteristics and manoeuverability compared to the American jet.
