Lockheed Martin has won a contract valued $504 million to deliver a dozen MH-60R Seahawk helicopters to Australia.

Work is expected to be completed in October 2026.

On October 8, the U.S. approved the Foreign Military Sale of 12 MH-60Rs and related equipment to Australia for $2 billion, as per a Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) release.

This May, the company announced that Canberra will purchase 13 additional MH-60R from the U.S. Navy. At present, the country operates 23 MH-60Rs it received in 2016.

MH-60R multi-mission maritime helicopter is designed to operate from frigates, destroyers, cruisers, and aircraft carriers. Operated by a crew of three, the MH-60R can travel at up to 333 kmph with a maximum range of 453km. The aircraft can perform surveillance, communications relay, combat search and rescue, and logistics support missions.

Yesterday, the U.S. State Department greenlit the sale of 40 UH-60M Black Hawk choppers to Australia for approximately $1.95 billion.
